The young woman wailed, her lips trembling and her large brown eyes, fixed on her mother, wet with tears. Her mother softened. The words that followed were less sharp but still strict.

"OK...Let's take this as a lesson. You know you're hot-tempered, always flying off the handle, and vengeful. If you didn't have psychic powers, I would be so concerned about you. I'm begging you, don't use them again. If anything went wrong, it's you who would regret it most."

Nattamon did not say yes. She was very confident with her powers and never believed that what her mother said would come true.

Nathamon’s face fell, like a frightened child after a scolding. “I’m sorry, Mother. I hadn’t thought of that.”

“I hope next time you think a little instead of blindly acting!” she yelled, something she’d never done before to her.

The girl sobbed, delicate lips trembling. The large brown eyes that looked out filled with tears softened her heart and the next words though less angry were still stern. “Okay, Nat…Let this be a lesson. You are emotional, you know that? Thoughtless and vindictive. If you had no mind power, I wouldn’t be so worried. Please, don’t use it again. If anything happens, you yourself will be the one most hurt.”

Nathamon did not agree. She was proud of her power and spared no thought to the possibility that her mother’s words might come true.
