Car hits bridge, 1 dead

Early yesterday morning, Pol. Lt. Prasert Puklin, on duty at Taling Chan Police Station, received a call reporting a fatality in an accident where a car crashed into the U-turn bridge in front of Makok Temple on inbound Boromrajajonni Road, and responded to investigate with Poh Teck Tung Foundation crew.

At the scene, they found a severely damaged white Nissan Sunny with a person stuck inside, later identified as Theeranai Pongsuwan, 22, from Kanchanaburi Province, apparently killed on the spot as the body had a broken neck as well as limbs.

Pol. Lt. Prasert said the driver likely fell asleep at the wheel at while traveling at high speed or was driving while intoxicated resulting in the vehicle slamming into the bridge railing. Police have transported the victim's body to forensics for autopsy and testing for blood-alcohol level.
