Work Folders: Please put your class writing (unseen poem introductions, creative writing, comparison and contrast, close reading, etc.) in the brown sleeve (That's your portfolio container.) in your individual work folder identified by student ID on the rack in my office by the end of Monday, December 16, 2019. You can pick them up along with your last reading response at the beginning of second semester. Returned work that you can take home for your files will be outside the brown sleeve in the same folder.

Requirements and Expectations

• Reading Responses: Aside from occasional writing of other kinds, reading responses are useful exercises that attempt to explain, discuss or comment on a question that you pose about the reading. No more than one page double-spaced is expected per response but it should be well thought out. See samples.

• Attendance and Participation: Discussion of the texts will be a big part of this class and students are encouraged to express their opinions, share observations and ask questions. Come prepared to discuss the reading material.

• Assignments include two quizzes, at least three reading responses, two tests, a group presentation and a final exam.
