Presentation Guidelines
Choose one of the following topics to work on for a ten-minute in-class presentation:
Moral, religious, spiritual; beliefs, theology
Natural, ecological; the country (as opposed to the city), flora, fauna
Urban, architectural; city planning, growth of the city, urban conditions
Scientific, medical; technology, disease, discoveries, debates
Political; military, government, crime
Cultural; fashion, fads, lifestyle, food, sports, sex, entertainment
Economic; trade/commerce, industry
Literary, linguistic; language(s), genres
Artistic; music, theater, painting, dance, sculpture, design
Philosophical; intellectual movements
Foreign; the world, the universe/cosmos, exploration, imperialism
Human; race, class, gender, age, occupation, health
In your presentation, it would be useful if you addressed the following:
What do we know about these landscapes of nineteenth-century Britain?
What do the fictional works that we have read say about them?
What are some implications of your chosen landscape on some other aspect of Britain?
What are some intersections between one landscape and another?
