L. Ananchanok Prize
Poetry
Competition
The M. L. Ananchanok Prize is an annual prize of 10,000 baht
to the winning entry of original unpublished creative work by
a Thai national who holds a bachelor's degree or equivalent,
or is attending university. Submission categories alternate by
year between short story and poetry and can be on any topic
but should inspire "moral and ethical integrity" and culture
that is "non-materialistic." This year we are accepting
poetry. The deadline is June 1, 2020.
Guidelines:
- Poem entries should be
20–50 lines in length.
- Only one poem per
entrant is allowed.
- Entries must be in
English.
- Entries must be the
unpublished original work of the entrant.

M. L. Ananchanok
Associate Professor Dr. M. L. Ananchanok Ladavalya
Pahnichaputt (1936–2005) lectured in English and American
literature at the Department of English, Faculty of Arts,
Chulalongkorn University until her retirement, at which she
established a fund for this award to encourage creative
writing in English by Thai college students. She obtained her
doctorate from the University of Denver and was a Visiting
Fellow at Harvard and Yale as well as at the University of
Massachusetts, Amherst. A fellow of the American Council of
Learned Societies, she also received a notable mention in the
1995 edition of Who’s Who
in the World. Her collections of poetry include
Dreams at Dawn (2000) and Auroras
(2005).
