The structure uses up to 20 masts, each 24 metres high (80 feet), weighing 3 tonnes apiece.

Up to 20,000 kilogrammes (20 tonnes) can be suspended from each pair of masts, allowing virtually any amount of scenery, lights, or effects to be flown.

Tensile 1 can be erected in days without the use of cranes using it's own built-in motors. This versatility allows placement of the structure, literally anywhere in the world.. The rain covers that connect the sections, can be either blackout or translucent, allowing use as a performance venue, or for daylight use as for example, exhibitions.

The largest portable event venue in the world.
.
Tensile 1 was built using more than 45,000 metres of PVC coated webbing, 54,000 metres of high tenacity Polyester webbing, 2,000 metres of steel cabling, 180 tonnes of steel work, and needs 2,000 metres of electrical cable to erect.

Operating sizes - Tensile 1

The Tensile1 is a modular membrane fabric structure, designed to be operated in several different guises.
It includes features such as 6m high side walls and no quarter poles.

By adding sections, it can be operated at (wall to wall) :

As the initial contract is for twenty masts, or a sixteen pole structure with two spare ends, or two six pole and one eight pole structure, the above table shows that the total contract is for 219,067 square feet, or 20,352 square metres, or 5.03 acres.

This increases by 12.5 metres, to the main guys, all round.

This is believed to be a record for a portable structure of any kind.

The structure is modular and can be used in any form..
